PCBL was founded in 1979 as a result of the first Governor's Conference on Libraries in 1977. It is an organization of citizens who work to increase awareness of libraries, both in community and governmental bodies. In 1980 the organization began honoring outstanding contributions made by individuals, groups, government officials and the media to the advancement of Pennsylvania's libraries. 2011 Awards were announced on October 2 at our annual Awards Luncheon during the PaLA Conference at the Penn Stater.
